PHOTOS: Melissa Etheridge and Blondie Rocked Artpark
Review and Photo’s By Jessie Lakatos and WilliamSmyers
On July 7th 2015, Melissa Etheridge and Blondie performed to a sold out show at Artpark in Lewiston NY.
As the large gray filled clouds hovered above the stage at Artpark, tempting to open up on the concert goers, it held out just enough for Blondie to dazzle us with her 80’s rock set with black and pink attire. Blondie announced the she celebrated her birthday on the 1st and then America’s birthday. As the crowd danced to her new music, Debbie Harry, all smiles, gave the crowd a great show performing some of her great hits such as, “Heart of Glass, One Way or Another, and Dreaming” a few new songs and a cover or two like Rapture from the Beastie Boy’s (You Gotta)
There was a little mix up with our media passes which delayed our entry. In the end all was resolved, and I want to thank Artpark for quickly handling this for us. Unfortunately, we were not able to provide Blondie photo images for this review. But, we do have some wonderful Melissa Etheridge images for your viewing pleasure.
Melissa Etheridge came out strong with her opening song “If I Wanted To.” I hadn’t listened to Melissa in several years and wow did she remind me how much I enjoyed her music. Her vocals were crisp and full of emotion.
She jammed out in rock and roll style and when she sang “Come to My Window” the crowed went crazy. You can tell that the audience absolutely loved her. Many concert goers danced and sang along during her 2 hours set. The night came to an end with an encore of “Like the Way I Do”
It was my first concert by Melissa Etheridge, so I didn’t really know what to expect. She used a variety of guitars. She is one very talented rocker! I loved every minute of it. If I could, I’d definitely see her again. She did a great job performing, and her band is a bunch of talented performers with excellent stage presence.
