As STAX Records commemorates their 60th anniversary this year, Anita West is presenting a tribute to the music of STAX Records this Thursday, October 5th at the Tralf Music Hall in Buffalo.
The show scheduled for 7pm will feature some of Buffalo’s most prolific soul artists joining Eric Crittenden’s ‘Critt Juke Joint’.
“STAX represents the formal foundation of American Soul music”
“STAX legitimized that “chiltlin’ circuit” sound with their no frills, dynamic artist roster in Otis Redding, Sam & Dave, Isaac Hayes, Staple Singers, Booker T, Albert King and many more… Their raw soul sound is part of the American Roots soundtrack and it has changed generations!” says Crittenden.
Joining Eric with Critt’s Juke Joint will be David Michael Miller, Preach, D. Ray Jackson, Hayden Fogle, Vince Fossit, Jim Bohm, Marla Harris, Paul Yates and Steve Davis.
STAX provides a major chapter to America’s story with grit, rhythm and roots and will feature the many hit songs that helped define American soul music and many generations along the way.
Some of STAX recording artists over the last 60 years include Booker T. & The M.G.’s, Isaac Hayes, Mavis Staples, Otis Redding, Sam & Dave, The Delfonics, Melissa Etheridge,
Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, Ben Harper, Soulive and Warren Haynes
